Men's pilot session: Law Society Scotland

Why is it that when we talk about men’s health the conversation quickly turns to suicide, drug and alcohol use and toxic masculinity?

This unhelpful start-point fails to take account of the vast numbers of successful and financially comfortable men who work in demanding, high-pressure environments but never contemplate suicide or abuse drugs and alcohol.

We’re going to take a look at this subject from a standpoint of presilience, because staying strong and finding peace doesn't have to start with asking for help; it can start with practical, user-friendly routines that fit around your day. Think of it as a few extra lines of code written into the programme ahead of time.

We’ll look at some ‘back-pocket’ skills that can help you quickly reset to a healthy mental baseline when the going gets tough.

We’ll talk about how to stay energised through the day by what you eat and drink, and the snacks you keep in the top drawer of your desk.

And lastly, we’ll talk about how we can use the natural environment in small doses to enhance clarity of thought, memory retention and dopamine levels.

This is going to be an upbeat solution focussed approach to helping men in the legal profession. No one will be put on the spot, you won’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to and everything discussed will be kept in the strictest confidence.

Session lasts 1 hour
